The Birth Center is state licensed and nationally certified to provide a safe and comfortable place to have your baby. The midwives are able to deliver babies in the hospital when necessary but our preference and primary site of care is the Birth Center. The Midwife Group has been providing safe and sensitive care to women of coastal Georgia since 1987 and our midwives have delivered over a thousand babies.

The Midwife Group offers the only midwifery based practice for women’s health care in the region. The Birth Center provides Georgia’s only alternative to high tech and interventive birth. Babies have been born into the caring hands of Certified Nurse Midwives at the Birth Center for over 20 years.

Education and experience:
Our Certified Nurse Midwives are all graduates of accredited nurse-midwifery programs and hold Master’s degrees in nursing and midwifery. They have a combined total of over 50 years midwifery experience.

Practice and collaboration:
The Certified Nurse Midwives of the Midwife Group practice full-scope nurse-midwifery in collaboration with OB/ GYN physicians, Dr. Mcleod and Dr. Whitaker. The Birth Center practice has been in existence for over 20 years and the midwives have had hospital privileges for over 4 years.

License and certification:
The Certified Nurse Midwives of the Midwife Group are all state licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and are all nationally certified by The American College of Nurse-Midwives.
